Equine Therapy

Equine therapy, also known as horse therapy or equine-assisted therapy, involves interactions between learners and horses to promote physical, emotional, and cognitive development.

For learners with special needs, this therapeutic approach offers a range of benefits. Horses are known for their calming presence and ability to respond to non-verbal communication, which helps children with developmental delays, autism, ADHD, and emotional or behavioral challenges develop better communication, social, and motor skills.

The rhythmic movement of riding helps improve balance, coordination, and muscle strength. In addition, caring for and interacting with the horse teaches responsibility, patience, and empathy. Equine therapy has been shown to boost confidence and self-esteem, as learners often feel a sense of accomplishment from successfully guiding or caring for a large animal. It also reduces anxiety and improves focus, making it an effective tool for managing stress and enhancing emotional regulation.
